Student Experience
At the Faculty of Economics & Commerce we want to give you access to programs and activities which are designed to enrich your university experience, support your learning, develop your skills, facilitate your involvement, and help you to realise your potential as a leader and effective global citizen. A number of opportunities are available to both our undergraduate and graduate Commerce students that allow them to develop their skills and abilities, and ensure that they get the most out of university life.
The services, facilities and support we provide are essential elements of the student experience at the Commerce Student Centre and Melbourne Graduate School of Management.
Covering every aspect of student life, our services extend beyond the classroom to enrich your studies, maintain your wellbeing and prepare you for success after graduation.
They include pre-term orientation programs, career programs and functions and events that help you develop professional skills while building networks and friendships to carry over into the next phase of your life and career.
Whether you wish to directly enter employment after your studies or continue with further studies, the skills you will develop from participating in one or more of the activities offered by the Faculty and University will benefit you. You will develop employability skills which all organisations – public or private, corporate or voluntary, as well as universities - look for in graduates. These include excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, problem solving, flexibility, interpersonal, self-confidence, organisational, initiative and motivational skills.
What’s more, employability skills are transferable, so this means you will be able to use them no matter where you go, what you decide to do, or how your future unfolds.
Commerce students can choose to participate in a wide variety of degree-enriching activities. A taste of some of what is available is contained in the Student Experience flyer (395 KB pdf) and all of which are outlined on this site.
