Student Ambassador Leadership Program
The Student Ambassador Leadership Program (SALP) provides the opportunity for students to work and learn together in a way that enhances their leadership skills and attitudes by getting involved in the community.
Student Ambassadors offer their services to University programs with activities that include public speaking roles, facilitating host and discussion groups, and liaison with university staff and prospective students.
They also offer their volunteer service to non-profit organisations or create their own projects aimed at addressing the needs of a community group. Activities include tutoring migrants, helping on soup vans and supervising camps for disadvantaged youth.
Bachelor of Commerce graduate, Ken Wong (pictured right) studied Finance and in 2006 was a Student Ambassador Faculty Representative with the Faculty of Economics and Commerce.
Regarding his experience of the Student Ambassador Leadership Program he said, 'Through the Student Ambassador Leadership Program (SALP) I was linked with an organisation which helps Sudanese immigrants integrate into the country. I tutored two Sudanese students in English and it was an amazing experience seeing them develop their English skills.'
