Ernst and Young, Deloitte, KPMG and others snap up top international students

Career opportunities for international students in Australia have received a major boost this year, with some of the nation’s biggest companies relaxing their permanent residency requirements for graduate intakes.

International students who were formerly bound by strict residency guidelines can now compete directly with local applicants for some of the most desirable jobs in the country.

Ernst & Young, Deloitte and KPMG as well as other employers are inviting applications from students who can demonstrate eligibility to apply for Australian permanent residency. This marks a significant shift from previous years, in which all applicants needed permanent residency before applying for jobs.

Professor Margaret Abernethy, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Commerce, said “the global skills shortage and subsequent intense competition to recruit top graduates has created exciting new opportunities and demand for international students who increasingly are receiving offers before they secure permanent residence status in Australia”.
