Prizes and Studentships
The Faculty of Economics and Commerce has a number of prizes and studentships which are awarded to the highest achieving students in the Faculty. These are funded through the generosity of government and industry sponsors; individuals, through bequests and donations; and by the Faculty and Departments.
Dean's Honours List
The Dean's Awards Ceremony, at which the Dean's Honours List awards for 2007 were presented, was held on Monday, 14 April, 2008. The Dean's Honours List acknowledges the most outstanding students in the Bachelor of Commerce degree each year.
The recipients of other 2007 prizes will be listed, individually, after each prize.
Studentships
Kinsman Studentship and Prize
Award: A Studentship of $1500 payable in three installments directly to Honours students in the Faculty of Economics and Commerce to support the student (working jointly with a supervisor/advisor) to develop their Honours research essay so that it can be published as a paper in a refereed journal. In addition the four best research papers supported under the Scheme annually (one each from the Departments of Accounting and Business Information Systems, Economics, Finance and Management) will receive a prize known as the ‘Kinsman Honours Research Essay Prize (Department)’. The value of this prize will be $500.

- Quality of the research essay
- The potential for the essay to result in a publishable paper

Prizes
Prizes are available for both undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, including individual subjects and combinations of subjects.
There is no need to apply for prizes; winners are automatically selected in March of each year for the previous academic year.

Selection criteria
Winners are automatically selected on the basis of their academic results in the nominated subject.
For undergraduate prizes, students must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Melbourne. Students enrolled in a 4th year honours program are not eligible to win the prize for first, second and third year subjects.
For postgraduate prizes, students must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree at the University of Melbourne.

Student Achievement Evening
Subject prize winners are recognised at the annual Student Achievement hosted by the Faculty in semester two each year. This event also recognises semester two scholarship recipients, and allows the Faculty to thank our industry sponsors for their continued support. Representatives from industry sponsors are invited to attend and meet the Faculty’s highest achieving students.
The inaugural Student Achievement Evening was held on Tuesday, 15 August, 2006. In 2007, the Student Achievement Evening was also held on Wednesday, 15 August.
